Membership Application Process
By kcApplication
Before a potential recruit is even considered for membership, they must either:
- Put in an application and receive their 5 mandatory invites from current DES members.
- Receive their 5 mandatory invites from current DES members and then put in an application.
NOTE: A poll will NOT be started until the potential recruit has submitted an application in the correct format and received the mandatory 5 invites.
Invites
- DES is currently and indefinitely an invite only clan. While you may put in an application at anytime, the process goes no where until you receive 5 invitations from current DES members.
Trial Members
- When a potential recruit has received their 5 mandatory invites AND submitted their application they are placed in a trial members group on the forums.
- A potential recruit remains in this group until their application is denied or withdrawn for reference.
- The council retains the right to revoke any application or trial membership at anytime, for any reason. (Entire council must approve)
NOTE: Activity from trial members is encouraged and almost mandatory if the potential recruit hopes to be successful in their application process. Trial members should always be on their best behavior.
Pre-polling
- After a user has gotten all 5 invites the clan will hold 1-2 weeks of discussion.
- If you fail your first poll and you would like to go try a 2nd poll, it goes back to the discussion stage
Polling
- A seven day poll is created once the above conditions have been met. All DES members have the ability to vote on this poll.
- A minimum of 12 votes is necessary for the poll to be valid.
- The poll results must end with a 5:1 ratio or better to pass. (15 yes, 4 no would NOT pass)
- If the poll fails, the recruit is informed of the results and is asked if they would like to continue the recruitment process.
- If the potential recruit wants to continue the process, a second seven day poll is created 1 week after the previous poll failed.
- If the second poll fails, the application is denied – for now.
- If your application has been denied you must wait AT LEAST 90 days before a retry.
NOTE: Assuming nothing goes horribly wrong (I.E. potential recruit gets blacklisted), there is NO limit to the number of polls a person may receive as long as all of the rules and procedures documented here are fulfilled.
The council at anytime can demand a re-vote (entire council must approve), this is limit to only one time per possible recruit
Probationary Members
- All new members are placed under a probationary period once being accepted into the clan. This period lasts for 90 days.
- Probationary members are watched closely by the clan and if problems arise during this time consequences are dealt with based on the severity of the offence(s).
- Severe and/or repeat offenses while under the probationary period may result in an expulsion from the clan.
Post Acceptance
- After the 90 day probationary period expires, assuming the member has not had any problems they are then considered full members.
- Full members are expected to uphold the values of DES and be professional within the various community settings. (in-game, IRC, clan forums, etc.)
DES Members
Giving Invites
- When giving a potential recruit an invites, please contact them personally and notify them that you are giving them an invitation to join DES.
- Make a post within the members only section of our forums stating that you are giving the potential recruit an invite.
- If your invite gives the potential recruit their 5th invite, please notify them that their seven day poll begins ASAP.
Voting
- The poll thread is meant for just that – polling. Please no comments in these threads that may persuade other DES members to vote differently.
- If you feel that you have something of importance to say about the potential recruit, please do it elsewhere (maybe in their invite thread – just keep it out of the poll threads).
- If you are undecided, do NOT vote at this time. Even if the poll is about to expire. This is the purpose of multiple polls for potential recruits.
NOTE: When a poll expires, someone should notify the potential recruit of the results and ask them if they wish to continue their application process (assuming the poll has failed).
